This is a new one I hadn't heard of before, the victim received a phone call purporting to be from BT and stating that they were then investigating computer problems, after taking some details down were actually able to take over the computer.  Fortunately the victim had the foresight to ring BT and establish that it was not them contacting the aggreived.  The computer was switched off from the mains and hopefully no details taken from the Hard Drive.  Hopefully not too much advice is required on this one suffice it to say that this is possible (in fact relatively easy to do) so be carefull as to what information you give out and only to people who you are certain should legitimately have it.
