DRS are operating in the RG14, RG18,RG29 and RG45 areas from today until the middle of next week. DRS are a direct selling organisation who will cold call but all agents will have ID on them belonging to DRS, if in doubt then either phone the number on the card or Police to varify them. |

Yesterday Afternoon there was an incident where a male identified himself to an elderly lady as a Police Officer. He was in plain clothes and showed a Hampshire Contabulary Warrant card but with a badge that looked more like an American shield, somewhat larger than the standard UK badges. The advice from our Crime Prevention Officer is that you should not accept any ID on it's own and look for other things that coroborate the ID, such as a Police car, a Gasboard van, a waterboard van etc. If you have any doubts at all then phone the 0845 045 45 45 number (or the relevant company) and verify that the person is genuinely in your area.

As part of the campaign to reduce anti-social behaviour this year, Basingstoke Police are running a scheme entitled 'Do You Know Where Your Kids Are This Summer'. The scheme is designed to inform and alert parents to potential risks that their children may get involved in without appropriate supervision. The attached poster provides several areas of advice for parents which can assist with sensible guidance. To assist with this campaign, we request that the poster is circulated as widely as possible, and displayed wherever appropriate.

Just to update you, following a review of incidents over the last 24hours there are still several reports of cold calling/rogue traders, either offering to do driveways for millions of pounds or have noticed loose roof tiles and just happen to have everything to hand to fix it for you. Please do not employ these people and don't fear them, whilst some have been reported as abusive I am not aware of anything ever becoming physical or long term. If you are able, just avoid contact and phone the Police, 999 is an acceptable way to contact us if we are required immediately and I would say that is immediate otherwise we will miss them.
